Are you a good receiver?

I was reminded of the healing power of touch and connection this week!

I had a beautiful foot reflexology treatment by Robyn Harding. Robyn's is like being in a room surrounded by angels and sunshine. She loves what she does and your feel her loving kindness through her treatment. She said to me you are a great receiver. That comment stayed with me for a while because I knew exactly what she meant. I totally trusted Robyn and was open and relaxed to receiver her treatment. When a person can completely let go and trust another being to take care of you it brings any treatment into a healing session. The giver of the treatment totally feels that connection.

Myself being a service provider my favourite treatments are when the client allows me to show them care, attention and grace. That connection is very strong and I want to give the client more because they are willing and open to receive the treatment. I find it common for people in the body service industry are more open and accepting in allowing to receive a treatment because they are used having people work on their bodies. (they've had more practice in receiving treatments in school)

The treatment is always what the client is willing to accept as the treatment. Tension in the body is manifested sometimes by stress and the body is trying to create a shell of protection. This shell makes us less open and closed up from others.

Some questions to ask yourself?

-how do you feel during a body work? Are you inflexible? Tense?

(During my foot reflexology treatment I notice that I would tense my pinky finger and I would notice it I would say to it : it's ok you don't need to be tense right now you feel really good right now :D
Thinking about it now it makes me laugh my whole body was relaxed but my pinky finger on my right hand couldn't be relaxed sometimes during my treatment.)

Are you a good receiver?

Do you talk during a healing treatment?

Do you find your body tensing up or physical resistance  during a treatment?

Do you try to help the practitioner by lifting limbs of the body keeping them tense?

After thinking about this comment I though about the association of healing touch to Love.

When we are born our mother held us and that was our first experience to the power of touch.
I find it fascinating to think of the connection to touch is connected to Love and also being vulnerable like a child.

Accepting someone touch is like accepting someone love.

Are you good receiver of love?

Do you give Love easily?

Do you have a wall up to giving or receiving love to another?

Do me a favour and book your self a healing treatment!

Have a great day!

My Reiki Journey

This is a journal of my experiences during my journey of becoming a Reiki Master/Teacher

I am a certified Reiki Master/Teacher. I've been practicing since 2007 and I received my Master Reiki Attunement in 2010. I practice Reiki everday. I was attracted to learn about Reiki because I already was working with clients since 1999 as a Esthetician (spa therapist). Treating my clients they would tell me about their experiences that were more than what I would call a spa treatment. I was tapping into something bigger and very healing! With no knowledge about energy work I was interested in learning more about Reiki. I went to my local library and borrowed as many books as I could to learn more. After reading books on Reiki I was very intrigue with the process and I really wanted to learn more and also receive an attunement. Which is the process of the teacher attuning you like an instrument to the reiki energy flow in the body to treat yourself and others.

My first Level reiki class was a group of 5 with my teacher Heather Hatcher. It was an intense day I left feeling like my head was very heavy and opened which is very common for the body to be attuned. As soon as I left my class I knew I wanted to take level 2. It is always recommended to take your level 2 after you've completed your 21 days of detox. So I took my second level reiki  a month after.

Before taking my Reiki Level 1 training I was a very nervous person and prone to anxiety. I was also pretty shy and never really had an opinion I allowed other people to make decisions. I was numb of feelings. I would not allow myself to express or even feel emotions and I had a lot of anger and blamed other people for my situations. I treated myself (and still do everyday) for the 21 days. I never felt more  relaxed or at ease in my body as I did after spending that time on myself. Reiki helps me deal with emotional and physical aspects of myself and still helps me to this day!

I've learned that I am a very sensitive person and I can easily pick up other peoples energy. If they are not feeling well and I am around them I notice that I start to feel uneasy. It has taken me some time but with awareness I am able to protect myself and not pick-up other peoples feelings or energy. I have to continually work on this!

My Reiki Level 2 training there was two of us taking the class. My teacher Heather Hatcher guided us into a meditation for attunement my experience during that attunement was the most visually beautiful that I had ever experienced. I saw the most beautiful colours that finished with am intense indigo colour that I had ever seen.  WOW! That was an experience that I have yet to experience again to me it felt like my kundalini snake was awakened. I will talk more about the kundalini snake in a future blog!

I practiced reiki with my level 2 for 2 years before I felt that I really wanted to take my level 3 and become a teacher. I never really talked to much about Reiki because I didn't want to attract non-believers and trying to explain Reiki to someone is like trying to explain what the wind feels like. So I was a little shy about talking about my interests. While taking my training in Reiki I was also taking a lot of spa courses that were Ayurvedic based and I was learning about the Chakras at the same time! That knowledge I have found has really help me understand the physical and emotional aspects of the body!

In March of 2010 I was ready to take my level 3 Reiki I was doing a guided reiki mediation everyday for a while during that time........I had no money to take this course really but I truly desired to take the course. I wasn't in contact with my teacher Heather Hatcher and I noticed that she didn't have any advertisements about her training like she did in the past. I was working on a client (Danuta Snyder) I knew she was a Reiki Master and I asked her about the training for reiki level 3. She had taken her training from Heather as well but that Heather no longer taught Reiki. So I asked her if she would train me and she said she would be doing a training for level 3 the next month and I signed myself up for the class and I just prayed that the money would come and it always does :D

The training happened on several days in two weeks and I was the only student. We had wonderful conversations and the attunements were really wonderful. After the attumenents I felt so connected to everyone and everything. I felt deeply blessed and I wanted to love everyone with open arms. I am talking about people walking on the street as I walked by I would send them a blessing in my mind. Not something that I would have ever done in the past. This was my opening to a deeper healing consciousness of the level 3 that I experienced.

Now as a Practionner and Teacher I feel deeply blessed to be able to learn and share experience with Reiki!
I offer classes for all the Reiki Levels please contact me with any questions

Questions to ask a potential Reiki Teacher

When you are considering taking a Reiki class it is always great to ask a few questions and also source some information about Reiki to make the best choice for you. Since I've started practicing Reiki the practice and different style of Reiki has grown it is good to know a little bit of information before committing to a course!

1. What is your background and how long have you been practicing Reiki?

2. How many attunement do you pass down during your reiki class? ( attunement is the process of opening a channel for Reiki energy to enter the body)

3. Are you accessible are you to your students after the reiki class ?

4. What types of materials are available to me in your reiki class?

5. What topics are covered during your reiki class?

6. How long is the class?

7. What reiki levels do you teach the price and hours for each?

8. What is your Reiki Lineage?

9. Do I receive a certificate after completing my class?

10. Are you involved with a Reiki group in the area?

11. How many students do you have in a class?

12. What Reiki lineage do you teach?

These are example questions that are good to ask a teacher about their program so you know what to expect!

Have a wonderful day!
